`` Penang Food Hunt
Hello readers!
Today I'm going to blog about my food hunt trip in Penang.
It was a late post btw. So sorry for it.
It was a short trip with my boy before our class commence.
We departed at around 11a.m. and reached Penang at about 2p.m.
First and foremost, we checked in at Glow Hotel.
When I reached this hotel, first thing came into my mind is that, how come there is pool in this small hotel? Until I checked in and take a look into this hotel and yea, there's a small pool there.
The hotel is just nice for two of us to overnight. The only thing that is bad about it is that they do not have sufficient parking slot. Others are perfectly all right.
After resting for about an hour, we continued our food hunt journey.
Our first destination was to the famous 'Char Kuey Tiao' by the roadside.
This famous 'Char Kuey Tiao' is located at Jalan Siam. We waited for about half an hour to an hour just for two plates of the 'Char Kuey Tiao'.
However, it deserved for the wait because it was seriously delicious with no doubt.
This is so much better as compared to my hometown's one.
One plate of this 'Char Kuey Tiao' costs us RM5.50, which I personally think it is reasonable as it served with two big prawns and also 'lap cheung'.
So, you guys must give it a try when you are in Penang!

Opening hour : 3p.m
Cost : RM5.50/plate
Since we had finished our late lunch, we went to the nearby shopping mall, First Avenue, to have a short walk.
Around Firs Avenue, there are lots of stalls out there. Thus, we walked to those stalls to look out if there are anything to eat.
Then we went to a stall named 888 Hokkien Mee.
We had one bowl of their famous Hokkien Mee and a bowl of ice-kacang since we're thirsty.
The Hokkien Mee tasted not bad while the ice kacang was not our cup of tea.
Maybe it is because they are not using the 'gula melaka' instead they are using the Sarsi colouring.
So it made the ice kacang tasted different.
One small bowl of Hokkien Mee costs us RM3 with no extra while the ice kacang costs us RM1.80
Next we have 'Muar Chee' which is one of my favorite one.
One small packet of the 'Muar Chee' costs us only RM 2 which is just enough for two of us.
All these food are located at Jalan Lebuh Presgrave which is just a few roads across First Avenue shopping mall.
After that, we went back to our hotel and have a rest we had our dinner right at a food court right opposite our hotel.
There goes the end of our first day food hunt trip.
The next day, we checked out at about 12p.m.
Our outfit of the day :
Then we went to Balik Pulau to have the famous laksa.
It was indeed a long way to go from our place.
Unfortunately, we couldn't find the shop and it was told the it is closed on every Tuesday and Wednesday.
As so, we went to one of the shop which is also selling laksa too.
This bowl of laksa tasted not bad but it's not the one we are actually searching for.
This bowl of laksa costs us RM3.50 for one.
I was keen to search for famous laksa which located in restaurant named 'Nan Guang'.
However, I didn't get the restaurant in the end.
After having our lunch, we went back to town and checked in into another hotel.
The hotel we checked in is Wassup Youth Hotel.
I personally think that this hotel is suitable for those backpackers because it is cheap and reasonable.
I can definitely guarantee you that you can't find such cheap hotel with a comfortable and good environment in it.
This hotel is equipped with a small pool table and personal computer for their customers to use.
After checked in, we walked to Penang Road to have the famous cendol.
One bowl of this cendol costs us RM2. It was lucky that we did not need to wait too long because it was still early when we went there.
After having cendol, we walked around and searched for other food.
Along the way we walked, we saw a stall selling ' Ah Pom'.
It was nice and the price is reasonable. It costs RM1.10/piece.
Then, we went back to hostel to have a rest before we departed to Gurvey Hawker Centre that night.
It was lucky that when we reached Gurvey, the rain had stopped.
We had our dinner there.
Three of these dishes were perfectly good for our dinner. Full enough.
Right after our dinner, we went to the nearest shopping centre which is, Gurney Plaza.
We just went for window shopping and right after that we went back to our hotel.
On the last day, right after checking out, we went for brunch and headed back to hometown.
It was indeed a great trip although it was only both of us.
I hope for more trips in advance!
Hope you enjoy reading my post. TQ!
Ciao~
